pre and post-natal yoga
Prenatal Yoga
The ancient self-help system of yoga promotes mental and physical well-being and balance, which is vital during times of transition or uncertainty. Your experience of being pregnant and giving birth will involve great physical and emotional changes, and knowing how to use and adapt yoga techniques to breathe, move, and relax during this time will help you to lay deep foundations for decades of mothering.
Practicing yoga allows a woman to focus deeply on her pregnancy. It provides an opportunity for her to consciously integrate the mental, emotional and physical changes she experiences during this period in her life. Practicing a variety of gentle and vigorous postures, prenatal yoga nurtures the soul, builds strength, endurance and flexibility, and provides you with the tools that will help during labour, birth and beyond.
My philosophy around childbirth and my work as a birth doula is integrated into my prenatal yoga classes. In my classes the focus is on preparation for labour, birth and parenthood which I see as the most precious, glorious, empowering and awe inspiring time in a woman’s life. Breathwork, visualization, stretching, strengthening and some vigour is combined with journeying inside to become familiar with one’s source of power. I believe that a woman’s body knows how to birth. My aim is to guide women towards an awakening of that innate knowledge and empower them to approach childbirth with confidence, courage, and joy.

Post-Natal Yoga
I welcome mothers to return to yoga with their babes in tow. A gentle hatha-style class that is designed to help regain core strength, open tight areas, release tension and carve out a small piece of mother’s day for herself. A re-filling and joyful class that acknowledges the need to stop and nurse, change or tend to your babies, my post-natal yoga is a delicious way to reconnect with your bodies, and connect with other new moms. Some postures may incorporate baby and/or yoga for babies. Suitable for babies 6 weeks to crawling.
